Looking ahead to a drier stretch of weather | San Diego Local Forecast

A mostly sunny sky returned to San Diego on Saturday. The combo of morning clouds and afternoon sunshine will stick around into the start of May.

SAN DIEGO — After a couple of low pressure systems swept through this week, we were back to basking in the sunshine to kick off the weekend. A weak ridge of high pressure nudged in over the region. This led to more sunshine than mostly cloudy conditions across the county on Saturday. We had widespread 60s for daytime highs.

This weak ridge will stick around through tomorrow. Expect the marine layer to bring in low clouds and patchy fog through Sunday morning. The clouds will clear up by Sunday afternoon with more sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures expected. The 60s will linger at the coast, but widespread 70s will return inland.

AT THE COAST:

Elevated surf prompted a Beach Hazard Statement from Friday through Saturday morning. The surf has only slightly subsided. Elevated surf of 3 to 5 feet with a high risk of rip currents will remain through Sunday. If you are not a skilled swimmer, you are advised to stay out of the water during this time.

Some days next week, the clouds will be stubborn to completely clear at the coast with upper 60s dominating the forecast. Inland temperatures will be warming up to widespread 70s for the inland valleys and mountains with 90s taking over the desert.

No rain is on the horizon, but another ridge of high pressure will bring low 70s to the coast and metro cities with upper 70s to low 80s across the inland valleys from Thursday through Saturday.
